Multi-language adaptation of the latest BIC video campaign

We were tasked with providing translations and voice-over adaptations for BIC’s latest video campaign for their iconic 4-Color Pen in nine different markets. This country-specific adaptation required three native voice actors per video, which meant sourcing a total of 24 voice actors.

The main objective of this campaign was to effectively adapt the existing UK campaign for BIC’s iconic 4-Color Pen by providing accurate translations and culturally relevant voice-over adaptations. By adapting the campaign for different markets, BIC aimed to establish a deeper connection with its diverse customer base and strengthen the brand’s visibility across multiple regions.

The campaign presented several challenges, primarily related to the search and coordination of a large number of native voice actors for the voice-over adaptations. The need for three actors per country meant sourcing a total of 24 voice actors, each possessing the necessary language skills and cultural understanding to deliver authentic performances.

To address these challenges and optimize work and costs, the Content team from our creative agency set up a remote workflow for the voice actors.

The following steps were followed for each recording session:

Remote Connection: Selected voice actors were required to connect remotely for the recording sessions, which eliminated the need for their physical presence and provided a flexible working environment while ensuring the best native talent was chosen.

Brand Representative Participation: A representative from BIC’s local office in each market participated in the recording sessions. Their presence ensured the authenticity of the adaptation and provided valuable insights into the cultural nuances to capture.

Sound Engineer Support: An experienced sound engineer was assigned to each recording session to ensure the audio quality and technical aspects met the highest standards.

Following the successful adaptation of the voice-overs, the campaign was adapted into various advertising formats. The three videos produced were reworked into 6-second, 15-second, and 30-second formats. This strategic decision allowed BIC to maximize the reach and engagement potential of the campaign across various touchpoints.
